Šindelářová, Marie ; Špirk, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Čeňková, Ivana (referee)
The objective of the present thesis is to describe the situation in the interpreting industry in Czechoslovakia before the change of regime in 1989. The thesis specifically focuses on self-taught interpreters. The primary objective of the thesis is to collect and present, in a comprehensive way, personal memories of such interpreters. At present such memories are diffuse in texts on various topics or in personal, more or less extensive, memoirs of some of these interpreters. In addition, the thesis aims to present such memories against the background of the general developments in institutional interpreting in Europe and Czechoslovakia during the relevant period. With this thesis being the first domestic study of this kind, the method of oral history has been used and complemented with the analysis of archive materials. The empirical part of the thesis is mainly based on 12 interviews with self-taught interpreters, who were active interpreters in the second half of the twentieth century in our country. The use of Archive Family Footage Documentary Film
Janečková, Veronika ; KUBICA, Petr (advisor) ; VACHEK, Karel (referee)
In this thesis I explore more deeply the topic from my bachelor diploma thesis ?Archiving Family Film?. Through an analysis of family film from the thirties to the present day, I want to draw attention to this distinctive form of amateur filmmaking which is overlooked today. Above all I want to focus on the filmmakers Peter Forgács and Jan Šikl. I explore their different approaches and points of view, and their use of archive family footage in their documentary works ?Private Hungary? and ?Private Century?. By comparing films from these documentary cycles, I point out what makes the works of these two directors unique. I also elaborate on my work with family archive footage in my film ?Sestření? (?Sistering? - 2nd year exercise ? authorial portrait), and I reflect on the approach that I adopted when shooting my bachelor?s diploma film, ?Roots of Relationship or How Granddaughter and Grandmother couldn?t get the Turnip out.? I explain my use of methods taken from family footage in my work as a documentary filmmaker, and discuss my personal experience and achievements in this field.
Grey Literature at Mendel University in Brno
Svobodová, Věra ; Perlová, Vladimíra
The paper summarizes the experience of a university library which has not started building institutional repository and which lacks conceptual treatment of work with grey literature. The MENDELU Library deals primarily with university final theses which are after their defense submitted to the library in printed copies and made further available in electronic forms within the University Information System. In addition, the paper focuses on current cooperation between MENDELU and NRGL (National Repository of Grey Literature) and our experience with data preparation for harvesting through the OAI-PMH protocol.
